Topic Wiki

This is the thread where you can ask any random question you have. Feel free to ask even the most basic questions that you otherwise might be embarrassed to ask. This is the thread for beginners, so veterans here will treat you nicely. Ask a beginner's Q in some other threads and no guarantee of that same treatment. ;)
People here want to help, so just have some patience, follow the tips below and hopefully someone will help you when they have a chance.

If you looking for a particular thread you once saw and can't find it, this is not the place to ask. Check out Help Me Find It and ask there.

How to ask a question in this thread:
Click the blue reply button at the top or bottom of the page, type your question, and click post!

Some helpful tips for eliciting answers from other members:
- Keep your question short and precise. No one wants to read a megillah.
- The more questions you ask in one post, the less likely any will be answered. People are willing to answer a question or two, but if you ask all the questions that apply to your particular issue, you're expecting to be spoonfed. Members don't like holding out the spoon, so ask accordingly.

If you have a current SPG card that is about three years old can you get the 30k bonus being offered? If so do you close the card first?

Similar question, could you get the sign up bonus if you have an SPG already?
If yes, does it matter how long the card is open for?
If no, how long does it need to be shut for and could the card be converted into another card instead of closing it?
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals

YMMV. T&Cs state no and 12 months. Amex has been tougher lately about this.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

I recall that the credit usage on business cards dont get reported to credit agencies (except that chase just began reporting).
1) Now just to be clear, when applying for a business AMEX card (SPG) there is a pull?
2) Does 2BM help to keep it one pull?
3) If it does help, does it have to be a business card?

1) Yes
2) Phrased weirdly, but 2BM can be one pull.
3) No. There have been reports of one pull from mixed business and personal Amex cards.

Usually 24 hours before your stay, but sometimes, especially with luxury stays its earlier then that. It is clearly stated on your reservation page on spg.
And remember if you past the time you can always call...

I apologize for my noiobness and also if this has been answered before but, How does the Vanilla reload work?  Does it HAVE TO BE registered online or by phone or can I just take it straight to Walmart and load it on to Bluebird.  BTW - people here in south Florida sure re nice.  I am visiting and went to checkout OD, which I don't have back home.  Not only are they loaded with VRs and MVDs but when I tried to buy a VR ($500) with my credit card..No prob.  A message even flashed on the checkout screen "...must be Cash." thye clerk just blew right by it and let me charge it.  Its my first VR so I am not sure how it works but it was so easy (and profitable) that I'm going back tomorrow for more.

VR can be loaded onto Bluebird online at vanillareload.com. The funds are then available in your Bluebird account and you can pay bills etc. from the comfort of your own home. Why would you want to go to Walmart if you don't have to?

Thanks for responding.  Isn't there a fee to load it online?  and do I have to register at vanillareload.com or is it good to go when you buy it?

No fee, no registration required.
It takes a total of 20 seconds. You need your Bluebird account number and the VR pin number. That's all.

Is there any danger in my sending a personal check to pay my fathers chase cc bill?  We have the same last name (obviously).  If it's a problem are there any options other than sending a check from his bank? Thank you.

different browsers

You might be able to do same browser if you have multiple windows open and they are "incognito"

I am looking for suggestions as for which card(s) I should (have my wife) apply for:
This is her current rundown from the past year:
Chase:
Marriott - opened on 8/22/12 closed 6/24/13
SP - Opened 4/24/13
United Explorer - opened 4/24/13
Freedom - opened 4/24/13
Amex:
MB Platinum - opened 12/19/12 closed 3/11/13
SPG - opened 12/19/12

She currently has no history with Citi or Barclays.

Are there any Amex cards which would be good or should I try for the Citi AA and Thank you cards?
