Nice. I only got a 3MP$ retention up to 10K bonus miles ($5K spend)  :'(
BTW:If you're getting 5 MP$ you shouldn't we worrying about that question, you should be spending all $5K base anyways to get the bonus.

I'd try calling up and re-negotiating. Don't feel too bad though,  the rep himself sounded really surprised at the offer.

Sometimes they are targeted depending on the specific account. I didn't spend much at all on that account, did you do decent spending on yours?

BTW, since you have a AA CC I'm curious how old are the miles that you're trying to reenact.

Yup -retention bonus. Up to 20,000 bonus miles (25,000 altogether after $5000 spend)

On top of that there is a targeted offer for + 2 miles per dollar on up to $1250 spend so a total of 7 miles per dollar there. I'm pretty sure you can double up these two offers because the fine print says offers may overlap.

Good stuff. What were you spending before that that you got such a hot retention offer?

REPOST!! :P

I'm happy to say that I Barely used this card at all  ;D. I think I put $1500 on last year for the 75k bonus and just a few dollars here and there since then. I'm sure most months went by with no balance at all.

The miles expired in 2007.

Just wondering... Is there a similar program for SPG? I know someone who lost over 2 MILLION SPG points to the expiration demons, at least a year ago... Any hope of getting them back? (I think they basically called and asked nicely, and got nothing. But maybe there is something more to be done...)

Call again?

Write a letter?
For 2 million points I'd keep trying.

2 million?

who accumulates 2 million, and then has no activity on the account long enough for it to expire?

Easy: someone who is not into the whole points game, but married off a bunch of daughters in his local Westin, collecteing points from paying them for their ballroom and other services... then after marrying of his last kid, forgot about the points for a while.

You wouldn't but it's not CRAZY to see how it could happen to someone.

I'd work REALLY hard to get those back.

Reactivating aa advantage miles
« Reply #35 on: January 08, 2013, 01:44:35 PM »
Can someone post the link to the thread for this. Or if there isn't one, than I was told I can sign up for a citi cc spend 10k on it plus book two rt aa flights. Do I need to actually go on those flights? Does it have to be rt, what about 4 different flight segments? Tx

To reactivate 103 k I was given choice of paying 600 dollars or two round trip flights plus 10 k bonus points. Seems a bit harder than what everyone else had to do

I just called AA to find out if there's any new challenges that can reinstate my miles. They said if I pay the $30 fee now, I have 6 months to either earn 5000 miles from AA partners (ie Citi credit cards) or take 1 round trip flight.
This worked for me.
