Earn Silver with Challenge vs. Flying

Going to TLV twice this summer on UA, have no status now.  could either

1. earn silver after flying twice plus either another flight or use 2k EQM  earned on the Chase PP card

2. do a silver challenge before the first flight and be silver for both flights

Since I already have the PP card which has priority boarding etc, the only advantage I know of the challenge would be seating which i can only choose 24 hours in advance. the only seat im interested in getting is exit row and as of now there is only one exit row seat left on the first flight and that could easily be gone by checkin.

The downside of the challenge is you can only do it once every 5 years, so if I do it now it would be 3 1/2 years till i can do it again

am i missing anything? what do you guys think?

Ah I thought you meant the bonus because of the card
so that's about an extra 5k miles plus a possible upgraded seat

Ok so I'm checking the planes to see what might be available, so how come the flights from TLV-EWR dont show any economy plus seats at the end of aug? eg aug 28th or any date around that? the planes are 777-200 not 777-200er, what's the difference?
