DDF DO Planning Thread

Seven Mile Market - supposedly the largest kosher supermarket in the country.

Hotels:
Only 1 Close and decent hotel to Jewish area (but not quite walking distance) is this Hilton Doubletree

Otherwise, there are a number of nice hotels downtown (which is also the inner harbor area) and near BWI airport. There are no shuls in the downtown area with regular minyanim, aside from Mincha minyanim in various offices.

Restaurants in the Jewish area (in no particular order):

Dairy

Dunkin Donuts - 2 kosher locations
Here and Here

Milk & Honey Bistro - dairy homestyle cooking

Goldberg's Bagels - very good bagels and free wifi. Pikesville location is the one in the Jewish area

Mama Leah's - pizza that is a bit different, but IMHO, the best pizza in Baltimore

Tov Pizza - classic pizza shop - Mocha thinks this is a hell of a lot better than ^

Caramel's - pizza shop, also has sushi

Eden Cafe - located inside the JCC, no membership is needed. Also has pizza

Cocoaccinos - cafe with sandwiches and salads

Downtown
Van Gough Cafe - small cafe that serves sandwiches

Me Latte - small kosher cafe located in Johns Hopkins

Meat

David Chu's - Reasonably priced great Chinese food and good sushi. Dan's rating - 7.25/10
Address: 7105 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore, MD 21215
Phone:(410) 602-5008
Not to be missed:
  • Curry Chicken

Dougie's -  located in the lobby of a mostly frum office building.

Knish Shop - Excellent subs and good sushi - Good place to pickup food for shabbos
Address: 508 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208
Phone:(410) 484-5850

Kosher Bite - fast food (American, Israeli, and Chinese)
Not to be missed:
  • Double Burger (better than KD's a"h)

Umami Bistro - Japanese and Chinese food, including sushi. More upscale and a bit more expensive than David Chu's. Also has a liqueur license. Dan's rating - 7.25/10 Closed

Red Goji (Formerly Umami Bistro) - Japanese and Chinese food, including sushi. More upscale and a bit more expensive than David Chu's. Also has a liqueur license. Dan's (Umami) rating - 7.25/10

Serengeti - Traditional excellent steakhouse (review Here and Here) - definitely the nicest place in Baltimore.
Address: 2839 Smith Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21209
Phone:(410) 413-6080
Not to be missed:
  • Lamb Burger on Ciabatta Bun
  • Short rib eggrolls

Accent's - reasonably priced burgers, sandwiches and salads
Address: Greenspring Shopping Center, 2839 Smith Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21209
Phone:(410) 602-2224
Not to be missed:
  • English Pub Burger

Candy
The Candy Store (Star-K)

Syata is pricey but nice.  I'm good friends with the proprietors of AEG Remodeling, and they do some great work.  [Ya]Ron Peretz is probably a little cheaper, but haven't seen much of his work.  I'm probably forgetting some of the others.  Elle Remodeling has a good reputations, and Ariel Goodman is said to be expensive.

Me, personally.  And many of my friends/colleagues.  I was having neck issues last year and I pushed off getting help until it started killing me at like 9pm.  He had me come over right then and worked some miracles.

Is there a Verizon store in BWI?
Are the car rentals on site or do you need to take a shuttle?
