Update: 6/16/15:
So I smed chase again and got the same response, denying to match to 140k. I then called Chase and got a very nice rep who tried to match it for me but was unsuccessful. It said in her system that they were only matching to 140k credit cards that were applied before April 30th. I applied May 14th. She then gave me 5k Ritz points as a courtesy and told me to try to call Ritz Rewards and ask them to replace my 2 free nights with the equivalent amount of points (probably not 140k). I did just that and the Ritz rep said she cannot do that. Blah blah.....
This really sucks <img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/tapatalk-emoji/emoji35.png" />

Update: 3/23/15: Many recent reports of successful match to 140k offer via SM
Updated link: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/ritz-carlton-card.aspx
Standard offer is for 2 free nights at Ritz Cat 1-4 which is not too bad either.

Update 2/9/15: DEAD
current offer  140k bonus points +$300 airline credit annual fee 395 not waived
link https://www.theritzcarltonrewardscard.com/offer140k

To get $300 airline credit call 1-855-896-2222
don't buy gift cards from Chase affiliated airlines (United, SW..)
As Chase may be able to see what you purchased

JetBlue seat upgrades and delta seat upgrades worked for me.
Airline GC are very YMMV as there are reports of chase asking for receipts.
(Seat upgrades are officially covered in the T & C.)

Chase Rep:
"Sure I can help you close your card let me just tell you about the great benefits.  There's a $300 etc etc... o wait I see you just received it 4 days ago..."
Thanks but no thanks I'll keep my dignity
Your are giving the chase reps way too much credit.

For SUB? As long as you didn't get it within 24 months, and you don't have the card you are good. A month should be more then of enough time for it to show that it's canceled.

applied for the ritz card. said application is under review, as far as i know this card is not included in 5/24 i am currently over 5/24 (i heard sometimes reps will still deny you based on 5/24 even if that card is not technically included) is it best to call in  recon to preempt a denial or wait for the app. to go through on its own

Call the AS. I'd say wait, as many reps will deny if you are over 5/24, but it depends if you are a waiting person.

Yes they said it is not eligible for recon since it was denied for that reason the application itself is no good i will try a few more times but so far they told me twice that i would need to reapply

Do you see an inquiry on your credit report from this? It makes sense nothing happened with the app (and there would be no pull) therefore they can't recon. If that's the case, yes, you have to reapply.
