Random,
Got an email from Citi that I'm eligible to add AU on my Citi AA card and will receive 2,500 miles, hold it, after spending "$3,000"
can someone explain me this,

I read this email 5 times thinking maybe it said 25,000 miles, but no 2,500.

Why would anyone in the world take this offer.
I got same offer but on the business version and the spend was only 2500
Comes out to 2ppd (or 3ppd on bonus categories)

Let me spell it out:

Point is that it ain't free. Opportunity cost is 3k SPG, 4.5k UR/MR (via FU/Amex EDP), or $60 (via Citi 2x cash).

You gotta ask yourself if 5.5k AA > max(3k SPG, 4.5k UR, 4.5k MR, $60).
Got it.

I wasn't comparing it.your right

You're looking at it wrong. My point was that if you want a 5k top up to your AA account, this is the best way to do it, not that you couldn't get a better return on your spending on a different card.

If that's the case then that increases the likelihood that 5.5k AA > max(3k SPG, 4.5k UR, 4.5k MR, $60).

It's all about the (highly subjective) relative values of various currencies.

Option A. Call the CC company. They probably will remove it (unless it's a spouses account, it's a little more complicated then) some will make you close the card for that.
Option B. Dispute it with the credit bureaus

is it a big deal to dispute it with the credit bureaus? Do they make you crazy?

Usually quite easy, unless it's reported as a joint.

I registered DW as an AU on an amex  card for a bonus,  but then I read somewhere that amex AUs count toward 5/24 and its very difficult to remove them,  however I have not given amex the dob or ssn, will it automatically close without it hitting her 5/24 count? TIA

I've removed AMEX au's from CR with no difficulty (one of the only things I've ever done easily via amex chat)
