United Award Tickets- Miles not debited

I've had it before that when changing an existing ticket to Business they never took out the difference in miles.
Now I changed a First Class ticket to a different flight. They credited back the miles and never took them out again.

            Anyone have any experience of them taking back the miles AFTER you flew?

If a month passed you're good, otherwise they might take them.

Actually..no. I think I was searching in that category and didn't realize.

Thanks... guess I'll wait a few week and see what happens. It was a Lufthansa flight if that makes any difference.

Doesn't make a difference. If this is an acct u don't need in the future, book s/t now, worst case they make the balance negative later & u just make a new acct.
If u need the acct, try to fly quickly. (Or sell to someone who can use quickly).

Can I make a new account and merge them? Would that help? Or not really?
I don't have plans right now and want the miles!
