BRU-NYC: United (EWR) or Brussels (JFK)?
« on: July 04, 2012, 06:19:28 PM »
Hi all,

I currently have an itinerary on hold with UA, flying TLV-BRU-EWR in biz. The second leg, BRU-EWR is on UA. I see I have the option of changing the second leg to JFK - which is a lot closer to my final destination (Brooklyn) - but that would mean switching airlines from UA to SN. According to the info I see online, BRU-EWR is serviced by United's 777-200 (the one with the rear-facing business seats), while BRU-JFK is serviced by Brussels' A330-300, which I see conflicting seatmaps for on various websites.

So, in a nutshell... the question is: who has the better biz? UA's 777-200, or SN's A330-300?

Thanks in advance!

SN is better.

SN is better.

Thanks! Can I perhaps trouble you for some details as to why?

Yup, just beware that SN from TLV-BRU will be coach with a blocked middle.

There are vague rumors on FT that SN is introducing real biz to TLV, but it doesn't seem to be true

The new J on SN appears to be very similar to the revamped LX J product as well. Looks nice.

ib now has a flight with a real business.    ly has it on a few routes.    on most of their other routes they have the equivalent of a domestic first (big seats/more pitch/etc)

a few routes have the angled flat seats, but almost every route has the 738's with the big front seats

KL has occasionally as well. Its all useless as there's no way to determine in advance. (AFAIK)

Thanks for all the input, guys. Unfortunately, I lost the SN flight from BRU to JFK, so I'm waiting for it to open again. :( For now, I have BRU-EWR on UA.

Meanwhile, LH has opened up via FRA: TLV-FRA is on a A340-600, and FRA-JFK is on a A380-800. But from what I've been reading, it seems that the biz seats on those planes are not so amazing... what do you guys think? Stick with SN/UA, or jump to LH?

J on LH A380 is thumbs down.

Stick with UA for the better seat (and hope SN opens up again).
