I thought I head already read somewhere on DD/DDF that it was possible to use those cities as origins as well as destinations, though the former is somewhat YMMV. Am I wrong?

I used to write that, but people started commenting that that was closed.

I booked yesterday with the reduced Q3 Awards a roundrtrip on AA originating in YYZ to LAX for 17500 miles. (planning on geting another 10% of miles back)  pretty good deal!!!

I was not charged any $25 phone booking fee either.
