Is the PCH still closed halfway through it? Any ETA for reopening?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It's a real hit or miss in Feb. It can rain a lot and that can lead to a wash out of the road. If everything is open, I still think 4 days is a little long. Maybe if you stayed at the Alila in Big Sur for 2 nights, I just don't know if it's kid friendly. You won't find any kid-specific activities anyway, like children's museums, rather you'll have long drives, beaches (not the place to be in February) and nice views. I wouldn't bring my 2 year old on a 4 day drive along the coast unless he is unusual and doesn't get tired or bored in the car.

Thank you.

In Monterey there is a children's museum and aquarium. I have discovered  some kid friendly options.

I hear about it being long... You're right. Would've loved to do a two day road trip, a day in LA, and finish off and  fly out of Palm Springs. Problem is no minyan on the way between SF and LA.
With the weather being unpredictable, It's nixed for now, as this was a main highlight.
We did ocean drive in RI and Cape Cod scenic views. It was beautiful and was hoping for a similar experience.

Are there any parts of highway 1 worthwhile seeing, basing out of LA?

Alila Ventana closed until further notice, it's cut off from both the north and south now:

wow, wonder if their insurance somehow covers lost reservations for these types of things. just got bought again (presumably with mostly high interest debt)...
