Blackberry Bold
« on: June 18, 2008, 05:52:11 PM »
Is it worth it to get the new bold for the better processor and graphics
Bear in mind its bigger and heavier than the curve

One of the main features of the Bold is it's HSDPA/UMTS which on Cingular/AT&T gives you simultaneous voice and data. For that alone, in my opinion, it's worth it.

I've never had a problem with the processor speed on either the 8700c or the Curve. It was always fast and responsive. If yours is not you may wanna exchange it for a new one. There may be something wrong with it.

When i First got my blackberry and setup my email account's, everytime i sent an email i got that same email back. many of my friends have had this same problem and its very annoying.
there is a very simple solution.
1.Got to www.att.blackberry.com (this is for people with att, im sure there are similar sites for other providers)
2. Once logged in you will see all your email accounts.
3.You will see a column on the righthand side "filter" hit that
4.Hit "add new filter"
5. name your filter anything you want
6. Apply filter to "from field"
7. Where it says "contains" type in your full email address
8. Save

Thanks Avi.

This is an ongoing problem with people who set up blackberry to poll gmail in the blackberry side of it instead of having gmail forward messages to their @blackberry.net address. This used to be the wrong way to do it (polling) but due to a recent upgrade on BlackBerry's side, gmail is now instant. The problem is that e-mails keep coming back so you can use Avi's solution. This solution is also documented here with pictures.

I curently have the 8700 through T-Mobile and looking to switch over to ATT end of July. Two questions regarding the Bold Blackberry. First does anyone know when the Bold is coming out? Cost? Second in regard to size and or keys to close together, would you take the bold over the curve?

It just says "later this year" on Cingular's website.

The unit from what I understand is bigger and heavier, but it has a faster processor and better multimedia. Neither of those things makes a difference to me since I always felt that the 8700c and certainly the curve was fast enough for me, and I don't use a blackberry for multimedia.

One big issue I have with the Bold is that the keys are similar to the 8800 instead of the 8700 or the curve, and I hate it that way. Maybe it's just me - I don't know. Either way, Cingular has a very nice 30-day return policy and it should not be much of an issue to change it in for an 8700c or a curve.

As far as i read it will be on Rogers in Canada b4 it comes to the US, thy said something about Aug-Sep

Or maybe the Sep is for the other carriers, so maybe Aug.

Tho we will have to wait and see.

According to boygeniusreport.com (my favorite blog) at&t will release sometime in September and Rogers in Canada will get already 8/21 (Thursday).
as for pricing in the US, BGR says 199-299 prcie with new 2 year contract.
This is the bb device I've been waiting for for a long time: 3G, wifi, gps, camera/video.
Now the only question i have is when is tmobile gonna turn on 3g in la? I hear before years end...
Also - T-mobile will also be releasing the HTC "Dream" with the brand new Google Android OS coming up really soon. Android is supposed to be awesome...
Not sure what I'll do yet... probably gonna get the bold as soon as tmo 3g gets turned on which will likely be after the bold is released on at&t. I will also prob get the android to test out and sell the bold if the androd is really good (but i dont id ever give up bb)
