Yea, we didnt realize until after we left.

Any experience with using the Chase benefit for this?
Chase is pretty good in general with claims. Just take a bit more effort and work than Amex but usually reliable.

My stroller came off the plane in a mangled heap. The airline completely replaced it. Now we always make sure to have baggage coverage weather via the cc we booked on or via extra travel insurance. Because the airlines have been cracking down on stroller damages an not necessarily covering.

As an update, Stroller was damaged during flight that was booked on Chase Saphire Preferred. After a few phones calls a whole bunch of paperwork I just got a notification of a check for the full amount of a new stroller. Over $500!. Always use that CC :)

Thanks for the update. That's great!
It won't help though for flights booked with miles right?

What do you mean?  If you pay the $5 fee on your sp that's enough?

Just got this message from Chase Sapphire Reserve's insurance in response to my damaged stroller:

We have completed our reconsideration of your claim under the Lost Luggage Reimbursement benefit. We regret that we cannot process a payment for your claim.  Your claim does not qualify for this benefit because:
□       The claimed item(s) was not a part of Carry-On Baggage or Checked Baggage.  Please refer to your Guide to Benefits which includes the below definitions:
•       Carry-On Baggage – suitcases or other containers specifically designated for carrying personal property, which are carried on board a Common Carrier by an Insured Person.
•       Checked Baggage – suitcases or other containers specifically designated for carrying personal property, for which a claim check has been issued to an Insured Person by a Common Carrier.
We regret that we could not provide a more positive response to your request for reconsideration.

Any ideas?

Did you try dealing with the airline directly at all?

Are we referring to a gate checked stroller or one checked as baggage?
Or is there no difference?
Just had a stroller damaged by AA checked as baggage.

hakohen seems to have had a problem with a gate checked stroller, and CSR didn't cover it because it wasn't checked baggage or overhead baggage.
Moshke, like you, had a problem with a stroller on AA and it was solved to his satisfaction, so you should probably start with a claim on AA.

Stroller was damaged on a Delta flight.  They asked for value but I did not buy this stroller, so I provided the price for the current model and added that the price was around that much.  They sent back they are not willing to reimburse without proof of price, but will give me 45% of value for troubles.  Any suggestions?
