Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 3rd Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 3rd Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 3rd Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

This has been the regular price for the optiplex pretty much since it came out so it's not an amazing deal, that being said the optiplex machines are generally considered solid business machines backed by a fantastic dell business 3 year warranty.
If you like the specs and they are within your budget - go for it

« Reply #94 on: November 13, 2012, 10:55:35 PM »
So after 7 years my desktop is gone.  I'm searching for a computer for a home office, to run basic programs- Office, Quickbooks, and the like.
Don't need any of the accessories.  Any recommendations? Good deals out there?

Good company - they aren't really known for desktops - but they make good products.

Never tried their tech/warranty support

First, thank you DH Data for your help here.  Second, you say its a good deal, but not great.  How much lower a price would be considered a deal to take?

Also, the one review for that mentions no USB on the front, which is good to know.

Reviewer was referring to USB 3.0 - it has 4 reg usb in the front I beilieve. On a side note reviewer is an idiot! he gave it bad reviews because price dropped and it doesn't come with a printed manual???? WTH? If you need a manual to use a computer....
