There is a store in borough park that has access to codes that give massive discounts. I spoke to them yesterday and they told me they could get me the iPhone (once released) for $65 plus tax. I imagine that's for the 450 minute plan but with "any mobile any time" that's enough for me.

I m seriously wondering how they can give such a steep discount... especially considering how apple enforces a price equality throughout different retailers (walmart, best buy, phone carriers, etc) at least for the first couple of months of a product launch...

how much they charge for the iPhone 5 if I'm getting it via a upgrade?

I assume you're talking about discounts on the monthly rate NOT ON THE DEVICE ITSELF
$65 + tax for the Sprint 450 minute plan is a "good rate" (assuming that the price includes the $10 smartphone fee) but I don't see any "massive discounts" here.

During some of the past keynotes they also allowed iphone/ipad/ipod users to watch the keynote live from apple's website.

I usually follow the keynote on engadget as they have a nice photos+text live feed

Not sure if that was included in the plan they offer; however, for $14 extra u can get unlimited data at a regular sprint store...

They did. I think it was 2 years ago for a couple of keynotes. I watched them myself.

same here. Never watched anything else there besides the keynotes. I am just saying the CNN coverage was 30 minutes delayed and IME only the apple provided coverage was truly live and only available on apple devices...
