Don'ts
gym membership:Don't buy your wife a gym membership or any work out device. Ever. Like ever ever. Even if she asks or begs for it.
Drug store candy: If you are going to go and buy her some sort of dessert, don't bother going to your local CVS or Walmart for that if you don't intend to get yelled at.
Items that need fixing in the house: Don't buy your wife a washing machine, dish washer, vacuum cleaner bc its needed in the house. Would you have not gotten it if it wasn't her birthday around the corner?
Call your wife female spouse.

Do's
Jewelry : Diamonds ALWAYS work.
Call her Female Spouse. The capital letters make all the difference.

What do i Do when my first ann falls out on a fast day? ideas? go out to eat later or a diff night? (i didnt want to start a new thread ifgured i m allowed to contiue on this one:-)

If she likes to read, buy her a kindle. My wife loves the one I bought her. It's a cool gadget and allows her to read books anywhere. A win-win. And it's not very expensive.

Kindle would e great if not for 2 big problems for my wife: 1. Not a big selection of Jewish books and 2. Most of her reading is done on Shabbos

BTW I'm still trying to find someone who will explain to me, why is it the husbands job to buy an anniversary gift? a birthday present I can understand, we're celebrating the wife's birthday, but our anniversary is about both of us. Shouldn't both of us do something for each other? Or do something as a couple? (mind you I never mentioned this to my wife, I don't have a deathwish...)
