Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

Also wife got denied USAirways for already having the product (aviator) - closed it, but any chance of getting them to process the app now? ( rep said no, but of course I'll try- just curious if anyone else got them to).

Applied Us Airways in March- denied bc I just closed the product on recon, no pull.

Applied miles and more today- denied, on recon because too many cards with opening and closing (rep referred to a bunch of Chase and Citi cards opened and closed with 1mo -1 yr). Tried reasoning with product changes, annual fees, no go).

Reconned USAirways card, told not enough usage on two cards I currently have, but at least got him to pull the report so it will merge with the M&M pull.

Will recon again and again, but do they keep noted from call to call?
They do keep notes and HUCA does not work as well with them. It's not hopeless, but don't get your hopes up either.

Barclays Reconsideration
« Reply #1002 on: May 21, 2015, 09:48:32 PM »
I'm a bit confused. I thought, one of the pros of Barclays is, that they pull from transunion, and therefore they won't see all credit inquiry's from other banks who mostly pull experian. ( at least in ny ). If that's the case, then why when I call recon, does the rep. go on, and on about all my new chase,  citi, and Bofa account's ? Where are they seeing all that info. if those banks don't report to transunion ?

The only thing they don't see, are pulls from the other bureaus. Every bureau still shows all of your accounts.

So the whole diff. Is just in regard's to your credit score, since there are less hard pulls ?

Correct. It's not your numeric score per se, it's more the fact that you have fewer pulls.

What do pulls mean already, if not for the fact that your applying for a lot of credit ? If they anyways can see all my new account's, and when they were open...

Reps don't really have a brain. They work according to the instructions they're given. (I'm generalizing, of course)
The fact is, it works.
If you apply for a card before the other's show up on your report, you will certainly be in better shapes, but saving the pulls also helps.
That is why people are always looking for MBMs. Because they save pulls. Even though all the accounts show on your report just the same.

Very true. They all just parrot the words " new accounts, and see history".

I have been getting denied by barclays without any pulls for "too many recent application". but with barclays i haven't had pulls for a while, so what is the problem? they are not even looking at other banks.  i applied again for miles more card and got same thing.

called recon she said it was denied because there is an application in the system for this card. i said yes, but i never had it. she pulled credit, asked me why i need so many cards (but not like chase does  now!) and approved me.

they were not pulling credit and not seeing anything else other than barclays. i must have been on their 'dont even bother " list. But the agent commended me on my good credit.

Hi,

Trying to get another Barclay. 2 recons to no avail. They said I have 15 new accounts in the past year. (I have more. Can't they count?  :) )
Is there anyone that has been successful in such a scenario? If so, please share how.

Thanks

Amex and Chase are far far easier than Barclay. Did get 3 Barclay's though.
(BTW, there's an EDIT button)

No. 3 separate times.
Never pulled off a 2bm.
