Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

Here's what I just sent by secure message...hoping that maybe my text could be useful to someone else sometime....

Hello,
I recently applied for a second US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard, which was declined.  I spoke with the customer service representative, who told me that Barclays typically does not allow individuals to have more than one account for a given card type. However, I explained my circumstances, which in this case is that I anticipate considerable increase in my spending for travel, lodging and educational expenses in the coming year, both for myself and for my child, going to college. I would like to keep our child's college-related expenses separate from other family expenses, and given that s/he's likely to be going away to school at a place that is served by USAirways, we would like to have this card in particular, as it provides excellent benefits when we travel, such as baggage allowances and priority boarding.   Would you be able to forward this information on to the credit department for re-consideration of my application? Thank you in advance.
--Zow
I apologize for being blunt but I assume that no one is responding to you because this isn't one of the rules that Barclay's bends. I think if anyone ever got approved for a second card while the first one was still open, you would've heard by now. It just doesn't happen. You should've read up before applying.

How about a 2bm?
You won't loose from trying, but chances are slim.

Just spoke with a rep. He said that in general, any application remains in the system for 90 days, during which you could ask for a reconsideration. However, if 30 days have passed, it will involve another pull.
I'll put it in the wiki.

I did a Barclays 3BM about a year ago.  Got approved on 2 (miles&more, basic Arrival) USAirways I waited for the review and eventually got approval.  However, never closed the USAirways and today took a shot at applying for another one.  I got pending review.  Is it too late to close the existing USAir card?  From what I am seeing in here chances are slim to get approved while I have one but it may be too late to close it now.  Any suggestions?

Downgrade to basic arrival. Apply a few days later. They probably didn't pull your credit. Call recon to be sure.

Thanks.  Probably what I should have done to begin with but: 1) I already have basic arrival will they let me have 2 of the same?  1a)Can I do that via Chat? 2) I already applied what do I do about that?  Are you saying call recon to ask them to disregard the application?

If you applied for other cards as well then they probably pulled your credit but if you only applied for that one, they probably didn't even pull your credit. So, downgrade, perhaps to the rewards card, wait a few days and apply again.

Although I always thought you could apply for the MC USAir card while having another one currently open, reading this thread is making me think otherwise.  I just want confirmation that it won't be a problem if I have a currently open card to go ahead and apply for the same one?

Just did a 3bm with chase. (and have in total around 10 cards) but none with Barclays.

Can I sign  up for the US airways card?  Like do I got big chances of getting declined being I just got 3 cards from chase?

Thanks in advance!
Hope it's not the wrong place to ask 8)

I have an open MC USAir card and just applied for a second one tonight. I was approved instantly. I got the first card last February and only made one transaction of <$15.

Not sure if it matters or whether it'll be a pain to address later, but I left the field for Dividend Miles acct number blank when I applied for the 2nd card.

If an application is pending should I wait for a denial (or approval) or call recon now already
