worked for me in israel, they dont swipe they just write down the numbers. in zurich they swiped, though in ist they actually did the old fashioned swiping, and in kul, actually they swiped my cancelled card and it went through...

They didnt swipe once but now(i was there a month ago) and they swiped, needed to turn around and walk out

totally different, they allow you to enter and they allow you to cancel. You are not coming in from the back door or with a cancelled card, and stealing their food and drink etc.

In mylaisia when i used my card, after thy officially refunded me bec i was biz. I just was in-transit and wasnt able to check in untill 2 hrs before the flight.

some airlines now limit cc to $200, some require id etc over $200, and some have instant connection to get approval.
But it was not not too long ago, the days that bochurim used to wall off planes with hand luggage weighing heavier than their suitcases...
