I'm in the very preliminary stages of planning a trip of around 8-10 days to 1-3 destinations in the far east for wife and myself. I am leaning toward spending the bulk of our time in Thailand. A big motivator for this trip (for me) is to experience as many top notch F products, lounges, and aspirational awards as possible, so I'd like to rack up as many of these without extending travel times beyond reason. I either have or could get miles or points in most every program. I would of course like to do this as economically as possible and to limit YQ.
We are based in South Florida, so would like to begin from MIA or FLL, although if warranted we could add in a drive/flight to Orlando.
My current thinking is: outbound LH J MIA-MUC, then Thai F MUC to BKK (it seems that Thai doesn't have F from FRA, and LH doesn't have F MIA-MUC). I would be inclined to redeem LifeMiles for the way there, but based on my research they don't allow mixed cabin redemptions. Is that still true? For the way back, I would do either Emirates BKK-DXB-FLL (sadly by the time I'd be able to pull off the trip there will be no F DXB-FLL) or BKK-SIN-FRA on SQ (maybe include a day in Singapore), and LH F FRA-MIA. Does anyone know if this last routing is legal with SQ? I should add that we have tried LH F and loved it, so that wouldn't be new.
Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or more interesting ideas?
