I like starwood I think they have awesome benefits and I find that Amex has the BEST customer support. With a starwood you don't need a delta Amex because you can just transfer your starpoints to any airline that way your not "held hostage" to one airline
but that's just my opinion.

Definately the starwood card is better
1-you arent locked in to one airline especially not delta which has really bad award availlability
2-the annual fee is much more reasonable only $45
3-you can use it for hotels
4-you get amex return protection
5-because dan says its the best card
As far as your second question you can open the aa citi cards or the chase continental/united or maybe wait for the chase hyatt card

Well said.  Just to add, even if for some weird reason you only want Delta miles, 20,000 Starpoints transfer into 25,000 Delta miles so you can even earn Delta miles faster on the Starwood card than on the more expensive Delta card.

He means AMEX offers a more expensive card to get delta miles when you can get more with the cheaper starwood card also by AMEX

The Canadian Starwood AMEX card is a whopping $120/year.

Hopefully the US Starwood AMEX will remain the bargain that it is at $45/year for a long time.
