Keep in mind this is a specialty camera for videos, so even if you're willing to spend $2,500, unless you are shooting videos this probably isn't for you.

This camera's specialty is low light, not video. This (and the first version) are the only camera out there now that can capture real-time video of the northern lights, for example.

I shot an event with the first version recently and was blown away by the files I got.

I stand corrected, but still not for an average prosumer.

Crazy cheap stuff at the Canon refurb store today.

T5 DSLR with 18-55 lens for $229 (!)
With the 75-300 lens added for $269
P&S starting at $50 with a free case included
Lenses starting at $70
Free shipping, too.

Nice. The lenses look good. Does Canon offer a return policy on their refurb lenses?

of these DSLR's, does any stand out as a particularly good fit for a beginner (first "real" camera), to use mostly for kids, vacations, etc?
been thinking about the a6000 for a while, but if any of these is a similar quality and ease of use, and can be gotten now, perhaps even with two lenses, for significantly cheaper, then I'd like to do that... any advice appreciated.
