In preparation for the yom hanorah "small business friday" I have opened some new amex cards. When I login it shows the numbers already under my account. Do I really need to go online or call to activate the cards. Or are they active automatically.

some cards work without activation some not. can't recall which, though.
lemme just ask. why do u mind calling them to activate ?

I believe someone posted on here that AMEX AU's work without "activating."

I recently got a Canadian AMEX Platinum and thought I activated it and a charge got declined because it wasn't activated. Not sure if platinum in US is the same.

Yes it was Meshugener but we don't really rely on him these days

If you want the Small Business Saturday credits, I'd strongly recommend shopping on the correct date.

maybe he created a bunch of cards with fake ssn and now can't remember them to be able to activate

Last time amex sent me a replacement platinum card, it had the call this number to activate or go to amex.com/actiavet toe activate your card. I never did this, and the card still works just fine.

The last time Chase sent me a BA Visa card, it didn't even have the 'call to activate' sticker on it. I just worked right out of the Fedex

i know a case that the gusband called to activate the wifes card, they heard a man voice onb a mrs. Account and got F/R, so I can hear why s/o wont want to activate.

Amex never asks me for SSN info upon activation, which is usually automated over the phone. And even when the system transfers me to a live agent to complete activation I've never been asked for SSN info.
This is coming from a guy who has activated many, many Amex cards in the past...

when was the last time cc ask you for your gender when applying? They don't know that info! Only really old accounts would have that info...
