Add the "safer" together with "rather go" and you'll understand why the Paris thread is 100x as long as this one.
If I was going on an India trip it would not be Mumbai...

Just got back from Mumbai India, what a bizarre country indeed
2 things to remember if you plan on traveling there

  • If you weren't born and raised in India it would be humanly impossible to drive the roads and traffic there, so don't try doing that
  • Carry a printout paper ticket with you, otherwise you won't be allowed to even set foot in the terminal, never seen anything like that before

If I had to go to India, I wouldn't go to the bathroom the entire trip.

Yes they do. I stayed at the Westin Mumbai, a 5 class modern hotel that is like an island of elegance in a sea of dirt, when approaching the hotel my car was stopped by guards, we had to pop our hood and trunk open, they circled our car with mirrors and dogs, and then we had to go through metal detectors

But the hotel was simply awesome

1. True about the airports, i got lucky and someone printed it out there for me. But def make sure to bring your ticket.

2. I was on a buddhist temple (visiting a "lost" israeli) and my friend had to go to the bathroom real real bad. He claims it was his worst experiance ever. Obviously it was just a hole in the ground, instead of toilet paper- the was a bucket of water to wash out the area, HA!!

3. The nice hotels are real nice, stayed at the intercontinental, they had a pillow menu, real cool.

4. Make sure to visit the chabad shliach, hes israeli but speaks a great english, hes got the only real kosher food in mumbai. Drop him a nice tip. And maybe hell give you a tour of the new nariman house thats being rebuilt.

Hmm, I should do a trip report, but my memory is shot.

I remember having to explain my gezhe connections to be given the address for the mumbai chabad location - in the end i got arrested for bringing 40 kilo of a certain illegal substance for them from thailand.

Pleasure in India?! I don't think so...
