Not sure if this was posted, but looks like India will be giving 30 day visas on arrival starting in October.

India & Thailand are VERY different. But, Thailand does not have strict (and expensive) visa rules like India does. Thailand is also better for shorter trips.

Reading around, it seems like India lets you get a visa on arrival now for 30 days

Burma
Cambodia
Finland
Indonesia
Japan
Laos
Luxembourg
New Zealand
Philippines
Singapore
Republic of Korea
Vietnam
