somewhat far (approx 1.2 hour commute to battery park), though not as costly as N Woodmere. also didnt get a great vibe for modox peeps when i visited (more of a frummer/black hat feel it seemed). possibility, but is there a growing modox community?
Was toying with living in 5 towns, getting an electric car and driving in the HOV lane on the LIE but not sure how fast that really is...
I want a lot, but u would think an "in-town" area like NY would have a place with good schools in walking/short bus-ride distance, with 4br houses with basements (for guests) and backyards around $1m.i would drive if it would save time but that seems unlikely.
Just curious if the gentrification of the neighborhood with a few hundred and growing Chassidish families from Borough Park is bothering some old-timers.
Way too many refugees moving in over the past 2 years. Don't need the marketing anymore.

How does that saying go? "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it?"
I need to update my pros and cons as a lot has changed over the last few years. but still not enough school options (i also used to value schooling less, but i may have grown wiser).
I would venture to say that for most families that give Jewish chinuch to their children, school options are the most important consideration in choosing where to live.
NY is the worst. Any out of town community has your requirements.
im sure plenty are bothered. But many are happy with them coming for the increase in heimishness and community services, though obviously the huge rise in housing prices has effectively priced willowbrook out of the conversation for most young modox families (they can go to other places with better services for less). How about Linden? Think there is a growing, young Modox community there. Near Elizabeth, so all amenities from there. Don't know if they have large homes, though. Mostly small homes, around $200k, though, with the crazy NJ property taxes.
As young couples are being priced out of the NYC proper area (5T, Brooklyn) where is there an up and coming young community near the city?
Oy, you shouldn't need to spend $1m for that. If you would be willing to compromise a little on some of those requirements.I paid less than half of that, I have 4 bedrooms, finished basement with a guest suite, over a 1/4 acre property. But I'm not walking distance to schools. We also wouldnt consider our community a mo communtiy although we are very welcoming to all people.
We're not too far from the city (relatively speaking- about the same commute from the 5 towms). All young families here, building an oot like community.
Where's "We"?
East Meadow, long island.
That's funny. My mom grew up in East Meadow. How big of a community is it?
The 'brochure' going around says 7 families. I'm curious as to who is paying for those? Also, is it all Chofetz Chaim families?
