« on: May 23, 2010, 11:56:58 AM »
I'm taking a road trip and would like to fly from nyc-yvr and then from lax-nyc. so far i've checked flying out of san diego, burbank, orange county, etc.. and the best i can find on all the websites(priceline, orbitz, statravel both RT and OW) happened to be on priceline for $439. i'm pretty satisfied with this price, but if anyone knows any other sites or tricks. let me know

Not sure how good it is for usa based flights, I would still give it a shot: www.momondo.com

If results are any good, please let me know.

If you have AA Miles, i'd strongly recommend you try and fly the JFK-YVR segment on Cathay Pacific. Availability is usually pretty good.

Okay, thanks for all of your feedback.  I just have one last question.  Since I am booking this flight for someone else and have *A status, is it possible for me to book it with my onepass# and get the miles? Also if i am able to book it with my onepass# will he be able to get free checked baggage? thanks for all your help

last time I checked YVR was outside the US = TSA and the Carrier usually wants to match the BP and Passport names , how do you expect to have someone fly using your name?? I guess you can checkin with them and thusly no problem at the checkin counter but what about TSA and if they do another PP check at the Gate, Sorry seems to be way too risky for my taste and not enough EQMs in it to chance being nabbed and then having to explain it all not only to the Carrier but the Feds as well. Which even if teh Feds let you go I highly doubt the Carrier will leave your acct untouched re they will probably CX it and youd lose any and all Miles in it

Recently CO rechecked on my TLV trip, and AA did on my BRU and LHR trips but didnt on my FCO trip

i hope this will help.
if you can leave from newark...1 way on 6/7 from newark-yvr is 190 on delta or united... if not, 257 from lga.
1 way ont-jfk on 6/20 is 173 USair
these are the cheapest i found on kayak.
Always use an Amex, you'll thank me one day.
