Car rental from Lax-San Diago
« on: May 31, 2010, 09:32:36 PM »
Anyone have a good deal for a 24 year old, taking out of San Diago on Sunday July 25 3pm, and returning to Lax on Thursday July 29 at 8pm?

Do they kill you on a one way rental, or can you get around it?  Do I need to fly in and out of Lax to avoid paying another $150-200, or are there any ideas?

Thanks

When renting with enterprise, its only like a $40 drop fee; at least when I checked in March using a corporate code.

That being said, the raid is that the LAX and LA area enterprises are a major annoyance when returning, especially one way, about gas and scratches/dings.  This comes straight from the SD enterprise associate.

When doing a one way rental with enterprise, you do need to call them directly.  I would suggest making a reservation online, and then calling them to modify it to a one way rent; they may just cancel and make a new one, but you might as well, especially just to check the online price, which they usually match over the phone.

Try with Avis with a code that waives the underage fee.

Fine. But any way around 1 way rentals, or that's the way they run?

about the only free drop offs Ive found is when renting from a local location and thats not far from the airport and returning to that airport nearby

I picked up on Fri from a Hertz HLE in Ontario (they picked me up at my Hotel) an ddropped off a few hrs ago at ONT airport

I havent been able to find any local locations in LA that allows a dropoff at LAX or BUR

So if you should find  something please LET US ALL KNOW, since I havent been able to over many years

and when flying into LA for me that means any of teh following in or out, LAX,BUR,LGB,ONT,SAN or LAS

Nothing to do with that. It was available for anyone.

A little off topic, but is there any airport between LAX and San, that I can have him fly to, and maybe get a better car rental price.

SNA = Orange County a/k/a John Wayne

 or LGB = Long Beach

or ONT =  Ontario

As long as you want to count ONT as being between LAX and SAN might as well throw BUR into the mix as well.

OK its me but Ive flown into SAN and drove up and slept that night by ONT.Ive also slept by ONT and drove down to SD to catch a Cirque du Soliel show. ONT is right at the I-10 & I-15, Id say 2 hrs at worst to SD simply jump of the I-15 to SD , or they can stay by ONT for the night and usually pick up a very cheap *W or MR Stay.

Id say SNA and ONT are apx the same drive time with LAX being 1/2 hr longer, BUR is further then all of them but yea its part of the mix , never flew into or out of there, and depending on the time of day and day of the week , dont know if I would want to

LAX-ONT-SAN and LAX-BUR-SAN are both 3 hour trips.

Tons of kosher stuff in BUR, none in ONT.

Ok 1 of us really needs their sleep! and maybe even both of Us

Why did U map out LAX-ONT-SAN and not ONT-SAN, same with LAX-BUR-SAN

I thought moefl was asking if theres another airport besides LAX he could fly into that is between LAX & SAN thusly LAX is out of the pic and shouldnt be on the MQ thingy

Yes. That was all I wanted to know at the moment. But thanks guys for all the breakdowns in the airport distances, as it's good to know for the future.
BTW, my friend booked earlier on Jetblue, in and out of San Diego.
