Inexpensive pesach hotel
« on: December 25, 2012, 09:51:25 AM »
One of my parents just had big surgery and is overwhelmed by the prospect of cleaning for pesach. Any ideas of a less expensive pesach hotel?

Anywhere in the U.S.?
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

They live in california, but would be willing to travel. They would feel more comfortable in a bal teshuva friendly type of place

Then Oppenheimer's is NOT for them. My friends told me its a cheap nice place but it's a more yishevish crowd.

Mix of Chassidish, Yeshivish and who knows what, in between.
Nice friendly place, very very "heimish" (-for good or for bad) ;) .

A nice taste of yesteryear, if you will.

Gateways is definitely BT friendly I don't think it's especially cheap - maybe you can call and ask for a break cause that's what they are officially raising money for (making people frum and helping BT's out - I think)

Interesting, so where do these programs that they're "raising $$ for" exist?
Or do they?
Please enlighten me, I'm just curious.

First of all it might be cheaper to 1. get a cleaning crew 2. order everything takeout and hire someone to cleanup afterwards. second of all the local bikur cholims should be able to help out with getting a good rate at a hotel I'm sure that unfortunately there are others that can't make pesach and need to go to a hotel. If that doesn't work for you then I suggest calling your parents rav and see what they suggest maybe people within the community can help out with cooking, inviting them for meals or put them up for the whole pesach even if your parents chip in for someone to host them it would be cheaper than going to a hotel and more relaxed to. Because if they have to worry about the expense of a hotel it will be on their heads the entire pesach certainly not worth the trouble.

I wrote I think because I'm not sure myself what they do but I've been there as a kid on Pesach and that's my memory that gateways does those kind of things although you can probably find out more on their website
