Cut finger onboard airplane
« on: December 25, 2012, 01:25:34 PM »
Hey guys ,
On a paid *A flight , I put my hand in the magazine pocket in the seatback of the next row, and noticed 10 minutes later blood on my hand . There was a sharp object there , that was not removed by the cleanup crew.

Reported it to FA who filled out a report and  even asked the  passenger seated across from me to be a witness .

What should I write them , either demanding, requesting some type of consideration or just Email them as to what happened , and see how they respond ?
Thanks

I would ask to be reimbursed plus miles.

What kind of sharp object was it? did you get checked medically?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

It appeared to be some type of decorated hard plastic cover ,for an iPhone or something similar.
Being it is plastic I assume its not likely to pose a danger of tetanus

The cut was small on my pinky, but the corners were very sharp and had a child  put there hand in there they could have gotten cut pretty badly. FA brought me to front , used first aid kit , betadine
And put a bandaid on it .
Did not get checked medically but feel quite confident it's harmful , but was potentially
very dangerous

Reimbursed how ? Tix was $ 378 RT.  would prefer gold status and miles ?

Got a call in NYC from Aegean yesterday . Offered me a free RT trip anywhere they fly . I said what about wife  , and she said make that 2 !

Maybe follow up Email and persistence , with threat to sue made a difference but I am happy  :)

Probably always pay to say something . I was given minor first aid , but you could have asked for it
also

I would trust my own first aid over a flight attendant any day.

And thanks for the sympathy. Win some and lose some.
