Looking for a good home safe, mainly for fire and waterproof, but also a solid peace for theft, any suggestions?
Depends on your budget, purpose, (valuables/legal documents/guns), frequency in which you plan to access it, and what you are trying to protect contents from.
I recently purchased a small portable fireproof/waterproof safe (not attached to the floor), with plans to access it rarely, for certain important documents with a strategy of hiding that (it can probably be busted open with a sledgehammer). P.s. Did you know only "original copy of a will document" is legitimately accepted by courts, in some states.
Alternatives are larger ones that are far more expensive/heavy that are permanently installed. Even those can be picked by an expert (not an average burglar), and they don't all have equal protection against water/fire (read the fine print for temperature/duration, if you are concerned about that).
P.s. Locksmiths have tools to open most safes (in some cases destroying them along the way), in the event of malfunction/loss of combination/emergency.
