The cheapest is not the best.

Its so cheap even when not the cheapest price that you want to get at a serious place, as its literally a few $ more.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for but bear in mind.
You want absolutely the domain name + space + mailserver to be @ 1 company, and not scatered around.

Check out godaddy.com
And
One.com

I'm not going to explain levatolo, so if you share your needs, I'll share my knowledge iy"h.

Best does not equal cheapest, if ur registering one I'm gonna guess you need it for something, so better to use godaddy for a few dollars more and it be safer, google "godaddy promo codes" and you can get some deals

I used Godaddy for the domain name and Hostgator for the hosting

I use hostgator as well, but if you don't know too much about server's it can get confusing, they don't have the best interface

Again, the best is to have one place for all.
The obvious reason is for the logs.

for a domain name it make no difference who you buy from it's simply a name, the thing to be wary of is the price after the first year there are many websites that will give you a free or close to free for first year but after that go up to 20 even 30 a year so be careful.  The actual hosting you should try to find a more secure and professional site to do it thru

Reb yid, I had tons of sites, and presently still a couple.

I hope you know what you are saying, before suggesting.

I have a couple myself, why would it matter where you register the name, where you host is a different story, I'm just talking about the name

if you want the name for the sake of having a domain name, you are right.

for having a website run, its a bad idea, "ayin le'el"

E, I'm sorry but your wrong, I've registered hundreds of domain names and trust me it makes a difference, whether its customer service, or hidden fee's or trying to do simple things you wouldn't imagine you couldn't n then there's a block, gotta wait 30 days

Thank you for the info. I'm only interested in buying the name. I have someone who can host it for me.

I'm aware that best is not always cheapest.

If anyone else has any other info that they can share, that would be great

if you currently host @ registar.com they automaticlly enroll you to SafeRenewtm and charge you $38 the next year in order to cancel you have to call them.
If you want to reew for cheaper click https://www.register.com/myaccount/transferAway/requestAuthCode.rcmx Obtain Auth Info Code and usually a $10 renewal pops up as seen in image

I've been using Dreamhost for the past few years for buying names and hosting. They have a very easy to use interface, tons of added features and amazing support.
