FREE Priority Boarding?!
« on: January 11, 2013, 04:11:15 PM »
I always had an issue comprehending why "Free Priority Boarding" is such a benefit, i personally love walking onto the plane last, taking my seat and we are all ready to leave.

I continue to look for answers, please help me.

The only valid reason i have heard is that if you have 6 Carry ons and you want to have enough room, you may want to get on the plane early, but other than that, what's the big deal???

Maybe some people like getting on board first. Making sure they have space for their carry ons. Or just getting settled in already. ?

all I notice is that the older ppl and ppl with kids love going first. They even would wait on line for a while just to go on first. I personally wait till everyone is on then I go on. The downside is sometimes your carry on is 2 rows in front or behind you.  BIG deal! So I don't have a answer to your question and ALSO have always wondered why its considered something good. I think if they would make it that ppl who have status get to go last and the regular passengers go first then everyone would wanna go last....

I love watching the big line form when they are about to start boarding, i can't remember if i ever stood on that long line, i do recall sitting in waiting area and waiting for the whole 747 to load up and then walking onto the plane(obviously not making anyone wait for me). To me it feels alot better.

If you don't want your carry-on to have to be gate-checked.

Not sure which airlines have this rule but if you have a carriage you get to cut the whole line

When was the last time they actually "gave" priority boarding to cardholders?! It's more like a benefit for the "card" and not in reality.

They don't usually offer priority boarding for CC Cardholders even though it's supposed to be a perk for certain cards.

I always get priority based on my cards, with AA and UA.

I saw someone try it on UA, and the agent was a jerk and starting yelling at him and his wife, "What boarding group are you, and what did i call? Did i mention the word stroller?!"

IMHO it was because the guy was a yeshivish guy, that the agent got upset, usually stroller is EZ-Pass

New UA boarding protocol puts passengers with children in the 2nd group

Priority boarding is mostly a benefit on smaller regional jets (domestic travel) where overhead bins are smaller.

Most people here are international travelers, so it really doesn't matter....

On RJs I don't rush to board as I have to gate check anyway.
It's on 737s and the like where I always board early.
