what compensation can you get when the airlines inevitably screw up your special meals?

Which KSML?

The meal was from Berenholtz. I was told that it is delivered fresh every morning.

I think it is time for a change.

We can start with the USA airlines. The meals they serve are unacceptable, especially in First and Business.

With Dans presence on the blogosphere and our collective worth as individuals, we're sure to get their attention if we band together.

We should have some sort of brainstorming session where we swap ideas and decide on an approach.

Between the airlines, the vendors and mainstream media we're bound to get a reaction.

I would think that with a bit of extra effort any ex NYC flight should be able to have freshly cooked food, at the least in premium cabins.

Its time for us to band together and be heard.

Borenstein and the like have the monopoly. The Airlines are not interested in paying more. Especially the domestic once.

Well on my Delta flight from AMS yesterday in economy I had Stogel meals which actually weren't that bad and 100% better than the ones I had in business on LOT.

The airlines only care about the bottom line.  The reason for non C"Y meals on some airlines is because it's a few cents cheaper.
There's no chance of mass media caring, thus no chance of any innovation in this space except maybe on a route like TLV in J.

Frankly though, who cares?
Bring a double wrapped meal from a restaurant or POM, have them heat it up, and eat like a king.

I accept everyone's critique. However, I don't think we have to be at the mercy of the caterers. For the most part the meals on European and Asian carriers is far superior.

While one can always bring food from POM or the like, how about on the return? How about someone not based in NYC.

I am not asking for more food, or more expensive food. I'm asking for accountability. It is unacceptable to be served a stale frozen turkey sandwich with an 18 month freezer life.

An idea would be to get on to social media, blogs etc and get people to STOP ordering KSML. Pretty soon the caterers will see a decline in orders and will have to up their game.

Stop ordering KSML and they'll just scrub it altogether due to lack of interest.

And EU may be home to Hermolis, but its also home to Stogel.

We still need to write to the airline.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

They would never scrub it. Can you inagine the outrage for discrimination against kosher eaters.

And a hunger strike will definitely get national media coverage.

As the de facto leader here Dan, I urge you to take on this cause.

All we need is for the vp of special meals to see that they are paying a premium price for an inferior product. They can see how their European and Asian counterparts are doing so much more with the same budget.

All I want is fresh and tasty. I'm not asking for steak and sea bass.

You all complain about the meals and Dan has even blogged about it on the DDMS. I have presented a workable idea with the hunger strike. Lets do something, anything, not sit back and wrinkle our noses at the crap being served to us.

Discrimination? Are you kidding me?

They owe us nothing.

Otherwise go complain to SPG for discriminating against orthodox plats for not having KSML brekkies.

And you don't need to "live in NYC" to bring a double wrapped kosher meal. Sheesh.
