The new iOS jailbreak tool, evasi0n is now available to download for Windows, Mac, and Linux to jailbreak devices running iOS 6 through 6.1.
The new jailbreak tool is compatible with all of Apple's currently available devices, including the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. The jailbreak process is incredibly simple. Once you download evasi0n, just connect your iOS device with a USB cable, run the app, click "Jailbreak," and wait about five minutes. Eventually, evasi0n will ask you to unlock your device and tap the "Jailbreak" button on your home screen. From there, your iOS device will run through the boot process and finish up a few things. Once it's done, you're jailbroken. Hit the link below for download links for the software.

Jailbreaking isn't as alluring now that installous is gone.

Anyone disagree?

Is this a tethered or untethered break?

I agree it's not as useful, but there are still some installous type apps out there. I currently am using vshare, anyone have a better suggestion for an installous replacement?

Yeah, in the time since I asked, someone also mentioned vshare to me.

I'll have to check it out.

. Don't see the need to jailbreak once i heard there no more installous. Bit pointless. But thabks for the info. Will try it on my 3GS 6.1

Absolutely- I have 3 of them that are great. Google zeusmos, appcake, hipstore. You need to add the applicable sources in Cydia. Definitely still worth it to jailbreak guys

having trouble making a zeusmos account. any suggestions?

I downloaded the app online and installed it on my ipod but it's not letting me download any apps on zeusmos w/o making an account

thats weird.... are you sure thats not the bs advertising banners? if you see a button on the page that says slow download click that and then u should see the link after 30 second clock runs out

IME, You can manually SSH any app into your phone if you can find the IPA file on the internet. Installous made the process simple and available to the masses. It being gone is not a killer for jailbreaking.

IME vshare is the best alternative and has the most apps... It's also nice because you can resume downloads if connection drops in the middle

You can indeed do that but the easiest way I found (even easier than Installous) is to use ifunbox on mac or pc which will install any ipa downloaded on your computer directly onto your iphone (no need to copy the file to a download folder or anything like that...)
