it was a very poorly constructed team, coaching didnt help but I dont think that was the main issue
I didn't follow it that closely. Was he like their last choice?

Is there a way to embed this audio? (probably should go in the wiki)

US looked terrible. How the h*ll was Tortorella the coach.

Torts wasn't the only issue.
Lombardi recruited 3rd line scrubs like Abdelkader and Dubinsky while shunning Kessel and Tyler Johnson.

Great read from Wysh breaking down the mess that is USA Hockey.

Lombardi wanted Torts because he was unemployed at the time and his philosophy was that he needed a coach who has time to develop a winning team. What a disaster.

Also check out Kessel's tweet that has the dolts at Team USA fuming

That's not what I am saying. When you start with a bad choice for a coach the rest is downhill.

How about a bad GM? :)
Lombardi is not considered a bad GM but he seems the most responsible for the mess, including hiring the wrong coach.

If he was the GM's choice then yes.

I guess you're the sole beacon of truth in the world of hockey.
I don't think you'll find a single analyst, journalist or knowledagble fan that can understand this trade from any POV.

How's that trade working out?

How's that trade working out?

Working out very well for both teams so far.
But the bad part of the trade will definitely be a lot more noticeable after a few years.
The biggest problem is they gave up a younger, more talented player on a better contract away for someone that is older, declining, less talented player on a terrible and lengthy contract.

Come playoff time Weber might be out of gas like he was last season. Don't forget he was mostly responsible for 5 goals in a game 7.

Are you kidding me. So far it is so one-sided it is a joke. I am sure that will change but right now Weber is the hands down winner.

I added the link to show that I am not biased. I see the stats. But you don't evaluate a trade that involves a 10 year contract after 9 games.
Weber is playing great, 10 points so far during the Habs hot streak.
Don't forget that the Habs started hotter than this last year.
And Subban with 5 points in 8 games is not bad at all.

There's no doubt in my mind that Weber can play hotter than Subban over a 10 game span.
What would worry me if I'm a Habs fan is that Weber has only played 1% of his remaining contract so far.
The best evaluation will be when he gets 30-40% through, but my guess is we will see how lopsided the trade is before that.

Have not seen Weber play this year but watched Subban. As of now he is lost out there. Taking way to many chances and leaving his team out to dry.

He's a dynamic player, give him time to gel. He's not playing as well as he usually does be but that only means he will get better with time.

Looks like we need to get the butter out for the Hawks as they are on a roll.

Hope it is a good game tonight.

Still waiting for MTL to fall back to earth.
Price, no, but the rest of the team is over-performing now.

(Rangers also over-performing but have a much deeper team than last year and performing much better according to the analytics.
But even if their scoring drops a goal a game they're still near the top of the league.)
