They're not beating the Habs. Unless of course Kreider Kreiders Price.

Big home win for the Rangers.
good win, but rangers still have a lot of things to improve on for the 2nd round. need improved power play, better play from miller, hayes and hopefully stall can stop sucking.

I'm not worried about the 2nd round. It's the Rangers series to lose.
I agree about Hayes, and Miller, though they did a terrific job setting up the GWG. Maybe that will spark them. I would also add that Kreider and Stepan haven't done nearly enough, and they were always great playoff performers. OTOH, we saw lots more positives that any fan should be happy about:

-Nash was playing up to his contract, best Rangers forward all series long
-Hanks back into pristine playoff form
-Buchnevich and Vesey didn't do much damage to the scoresheet but it's great to see rookies creating lots of great opportunities
-Rangers defense both from their d-men and forwards has vastly improved from the regular season. They took that next step that we knew they could but haven't done in ages. Of course we still have the occasional boneheaded mistakes from Staal and Holden but the rest including G have been surprisingly good.
-No turtle. The games were close but when the Rangers got the lead they didn't turtle like in the past. They keep attacking and you knew they'd win with a 1 goal lead. I was barely nervous in the 3rd last night.

they definitely kept the pressure on with the lead which was nice to see (although I was still plenty nervous). couldnt agree more about nash and hank. staal still scares me a ton. Huge liability

What happened to the Hawks? Losing is one thing but the way they played?  :-[

Must have been a heartbreaker for you.
Not only did the Hawks lose, this is probably the sign that the dynasty is over. Embarrassingly swept by an 8th seed and only scored 1 even strength goal all series. Blues solved Rinne in game 1 despite the loss. 2 consecutive years knocked out in the first round. Toews and Seabrook are highly overpaid and underperforming. But that's the cost of success in the NHL, you gotta pay your performers and it comes back to bite you.

Back to the Rangers in round 2, I predict Rangers in 6!
Too bad it will be the final round they win unless they get super hot.

If you expect them to sit pat and do nothing for next year then I would agree. You don't go from having the best record in the conference, a proven championship caliber team and the best coach in the league to the bottom of the pile in one year.  :)

They aren't bottom of the pile, but are they still a championship caliber team?
They lost key players and replaced them with rookies. While their star power was able to lead to 1st in the West them during the regular season, the depth is just not there if they can't win a single playoff game. Regular season means nothing if you're not built for the playoffs. They need to consider making drastic moves as their key players aren't getting any younger. And those drastic moves will set them back a few years, but not making those moves will set them back a decade...let's see what happens.

Not sure exactly what you mean, but it looks like Hawks 2015 vs Hawks 2017 :)

Hawks 2015 = Pens
Hawks 2017 = Caps

Pens = Nashville
Caps = Hawks

Not often do I blame the coach but if the Caps can't get it done this year Trotz has to go.

At what point do you start blaming the players?
Through the past decade they went through 3-4 coaches that coached cup contenders 5-6x and the team continuously comes up embarrassingly short.

The Hawks just fired their assistant coach. You don't think that is a message to coach Q?
When a player under performs you deal with the player. When a team underperforms you deal with the coach.
The Caps had the best defense all year. That is #1 for success in the playoffs.
