I keep on reading all kinds of reviews but none of them talk about the basic phone functionality. Between the (GSM) Galaxy s4, HTC One and Lumia 920 which performs best in terms of reception? I understand each carrier is different but assuming same carrier and same location.

In Terms of voice calls I enjoyed the HTC one more than the Galaxy s4.  And speaker phone on the HTC is great as well.

FYI
I've had a few people tell me they purchased an HTC One or Galaxy s4 on Ebay. Depending on how much you pay it may be worth it to purchase the phone outright from the carrier.
  And then you'll get CC protection as well.

Ex. HTC One on Sprint  is $549 plus tax.

I haven't heard anywhere confirmed yet.  I know Sprint will unlock it but no way to see if it works until you go overseas.

Maybe there are reports online... AFAIK the sim slot was just for LTE...

Because all I've read so far are reports of those who Sprint claimed the phone was unlocked and it still didn't work.


My other question - is there a way to unlock the SIM slot so that it will work even in the US? Without rooting it?

The Htc One produced for China has a removable back micro sd plus dual sim slots, as well as other spec improvments to make the best phone ;D ever

No removable battery. That's a big negative that holds it back from being best phone ever.

there is no such thing as a non removable battery just one that takes longer to switch

Oh come on. When I'm using my phone and the juice runs out and I swap the battery and continue on without a hitch... Others still standing there with a brick.
Or attached to the wall with a corded phone.
