Also interested in people's opinions about this.
Are they similarly priced?

Both very good vans. Toyotas tend to last a little longer than Hondas. I happen to like the way the Toyota looks more than the Honda.

many variables here. most people in bklyn lease so it really wont matter which one they choose as any van will last 3 years.
if this is solely to find out about ownership of used vans thats a different story

I like Toyota. They are both great vans.

I drive a Kia Sportage 2012. Nice sleek looking car, drives well. Cheap!

Most people who are leasing minivans in BK go with the Odyssey for the $1500 damage waiver, which will get used 100% of the time if you're a BK resident.

IME:
Sienna has a roomier and more comfortable cabin for ALL passengers, not just the driver. Handling is a breeze and super smoothe. The starting models tend to run a BIT pricier than the honda, but basically the same.
Oddysey has a tighter drive on the road for the driver. The control you have when driving IMO is superior to Sienna's. Its not sooo spacious like its counterpart.
Both have an excellent lifespan and will keep up better than Kia or Chrystler.
It may be that my sole purpose in life is to serve as a bad example

Do these come in leather (the most I see is leather trim)? How does the clothe handle throw up?

Yes they do. IIRC when it says leather "trim" it means leather seats. Also depends on what model you get, XLE will have leather.

If you have little kids and you are buying (no leasing) get leather!

I think we need another category of "I'm too cool to drive a minivan" or "I drive an SUV because I don't want to look like a soccer Mom"

CMIIW i believe the odyssey has a larger (deeper) trunk.
Sienna definitely has better handling than odyssey. But both drive very car like (as opposed to truck-like as the caravan does)
