Alitalia new infant policy - Business Class

just got it in email;

New Infant Policy

Dear Travel Partner,

Alitalia would like to inform you that for the safety and security of our youngest passengers, beginning March 11, 2013, infants traveling in Magnifica Class on Alitalia’s B777 and new A330 aircraft, will no longer be permitted to travel on accompanying adult laps. They must occupy their own seat in an FAA approved car seat. Infants traveling in the second and third row of the Classica Plus on board the B777 aircraft must also occupy their own seat in an FAA approved car seat.

As infants traveling on or after March 11, 2013 will not be permitted to board without a confirmed seat, the following re-protection policy has been put in place to assist infants already ticketed without a seat.

Mille Miglia Passengers: if a seat is available in the same cabin, it will be provided to the infant free of charge. If a seat cannot be confirmed in the same cabin and on the same itinerary, miles for award tickets will be reimbursed and alternate travel options will be offered.

Passengers holding paid tickets: if a seat is available in the same cabin, it will be offered at 75% off of the lowest available fare. If a seat is not available in the same cabin and itinerary, all tickets will be reimbursed and/or alternate travel options will be offered.

Passengers holding a reservation that has not been ticketed: If a seat is available, it will be offered at 21% off of the lowest available fare..

The Alitalia Call Center has already contacted affected passengers traveling with infants to offer the re-protection options. Should you require assistance for your clients, you are invited to contact our Sales Support Desk at 1-877-640-4752.

We thank you for your understanding as we implement this important safety measure.

An infant who has not reached his or her 2nd birthday may not occupy a seat and must be accompanied by either a parent, or an adult over 18
