Holo Locker is just like the rest of 'em! It does not override the stock lock and you will need to go through both of them.
Maybe you're supposed to disable the stock lock.

Last time email apps, like K9 , was discussed was almost a year ago.  Anything to recommend?  Google searches tell me K9, CLoudMagic.  My major problem is that I cannot send emails when wifi is on.  No one has any idea why.  Also, since I got the M8, I have to manually check for email.  It will not poll automatically.

Did you try the regular AOSP email app?
Did you check the settings of whichever app you're using to make sure its set to push or poll and not require manual updating?

Will this work for you? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.inote
Have you tried any that doesn't work? I did a quick search for "sync outlook tasks" in Play Store and looks like there is quite a few options
Additionally you should be able to sync it directly with your calendar app

When you add the account (settings/accounts/add account) what are you putting for the settings (server etc)?
