If I'm waiting for saver business availability on a United Non Stop flight to open up, does it pay to book the seats as a paid ticket and then plan to cancel on the day before to free up the seats?
Why would you do that?

Unless you are willing to pay for a J ticket.

I was thinking it might be a way to increase the chances of saver business being opened up, if I release the seats the day before.

In this instance I have a non-direct flight already, and I'm hoping to get saver availability on this UA flight. I figure that my chances for getting saver are better if I can guarantee that there are open seats by the day before.

I was wondering if anyone had tried this method and had success or otherwise.

The only downside would be locking up the money for that period of time.

Does anyone know of any other downsides or can confirm upside to this method?

Can I book a saver award economy ticket, and then if business saver is opening up call them up and change it to business by adding the additional points, is there a fee for doing that?

I booked a UA award 22 hours ago FRA-NYC. I totally forgot to add a "free" ticket to somewhere else in the USA. Is that even possible? Or just with AA?

It is a RT.

Will there be a change fee for me to add a flight? Can it be to the 50 USA or only 48?

Got it in with 3 minuets to spare. I added EWR-LAX in first for free. Thanks AJK
