Why does United charge higher UK APD for LHR-ZRH-TLV than LHR-ZRH routing?  Isnt it a flat departure tax? Or is it based on the revenue price of the ticket?

It's not United, you should see this any way you book.

There are 2 price levels for distance, for shorthaul and longhaul travel. Short is 0-2000 miles, long is 2k+.

LHR-ZRH is ~2k
LHR-TLV is 2k+

Then in each distance level, there are 2 comfort levels, for Economy and "Premium Cabins".

They're both LHR-ZRH who care what happens after ZRH?

I'm looking at award availability on United's website for HND-JFK in ANA J and found a date that has one seat but when I search for two it disappears. If there is actual availability for two, I would transfer UR to Virgin Atlantic and take it from there. Since the flight disappears entirely when I search for two pax, does that mean there is only one seat left or am I running into a problem where United won't let me buy two seats no matter what? TIA.

It’s very possible there’s only 1 award seat left..

Try searching for that same trip using Aeroplan.

Had the same result. Just the one. Does ANA often open up more award space?

I see 30k + $130 does this include the late fee that is charged by United? Looking at a flight for next week.

Yes.
Thanks.
What about if I booked before 21 days and want to change now? Do I have to pay the late fee?

If you booked more than 24 hours ago, I think you need to pay a large 'change fee', but no late fee.

I see availability for 90k economy, (non stop NYC - TLV) any possibility this will still go down, or it just keeps on going up?

Does it ever happen that it goes down?

so can I forget about it? Or it might still open up?

FYI the flight I was looking for has now 5 Saver awards available!
But I booked with AA already.
