For the periods of time when i keep a beard, using conditioner did help a lot.

Well I think the key difference is, that when you keep a beard, you probably keep it trimmed. When you grow a beard your whole life, the beard is disproportionate because it starts growing from the sideburns, and they are the longest strands, which are very hard to keep pinned against your face without them flying out. I find the sideburn part of the beard extremely difficult to keep tame.

I am sure they make some kind of beard oil that will tone down the wild growth. However, i think that possibly just trimming some of the more errant hairs should be considered. If you are committing to a complete natural beard, you should probably build in some kind acceptance to the wild hairs.

Have you grown it for a year? If not you didn't really answer the question posed... You just never kept it long enough.

I find the itching comes in around 1-2 weeks after i start growing it and "goes away" about 2 weeks after that. By that time you are faced with more issues than the itching, the sleeping problems and eating become bigger issues at that stage in beard growth.

He did not specify how long he is not shaving for.

From my understanding. You didn't answer unless you specify how long you've gone without shaving. For all he knows you've gone 2 days and that's it. Which would be of what I assume is minimal help to him.

To answer the most I have gone without shaving is about 3 months.

Not necessarily. I keep my full beard for religious reasons. (Our particular custom is not to trim the beard either, only the mustache may be trimmed) However, that does not mean I can't make it look its best. So no, I prefer not to to build any acceptance to unkempt wild hairs if I can help it.

BTW: You can check with a LOR re trimming moustache during sefira if it interferes with eating.

Any recommendations regarding beard oil? Haven't shaved since a few weeks before Pesach, and I need to get this thing tamed.
