Can Chase quickpay payments be cancelled by the sender
« on: April 04, 2013, 04:46:51 PM »
Hi,

I bought something from someone via the internet using chase quickpay. My question is, can I cancel the payment as long as it is not marked as completed?  The reason I ask is because he is a little sketchy and I am concerned if he doesnt deliver the goods within the promised time that I will be out the money.

thanks

Yes, you can cancel it before it is accepted, just go to chase.com/quickpay, click on the "sent" tab and select the payment you wish to cancel, if it's pending there'll be a button to cancel it.

Probably not so simple. If I were you I'd call Chase asap.

Not so smart. . .you're basically giving him a deadline till when he has to accept the payment.

he already accepted it.  I was under the impression before that it could be pulled after acceptance before clearance.  That is why I agreed to it.,  My bad.

BH, they were able to cancel after two minutes on the phone.  Lesson learned.

Also good point to know that it could be canceled even after the payment is accepted, I would assume it could be canceled the whole time it is pending.

So you basically gotta trust the sender, as you don't have the $ till it actually cleared your account

This is great news, thanks for posting, I didn't even bother opening that sm, I thoight they are just repeating that original message.
The lesson I learn from here, is that in future we should voice our unhapiness about these kind of issues, looks like it helps.

Any advise on what should I do if I sent $500 QuickPay that was already accepted and cleared but the service I paid for was never provided? The person was in contact with me for 2 days and now stopped replying to my SMS and doesn't pick up the phone when I call.
I spoke to Chase Fraud department and since I was the one who  initiated the transfer, there is nothing they can do about it.
Do you think making a police report will help me recover the money? It shouldn't be that hard to trace the person using his banking information from Chase? (Chase rep confirmed that the money were transferred to a Chase account. I have that person's First and Last name but they couldn't provide me with more details due to  "privacy issues".
What would you do in my situation?

What is "add"?
Can I sue someone if I know only his first and last name? how would I deliver him court papers? By email? Or if I open a police report, the police will help me to obtain additional/ missing info about that person?

With a first and last name plus an email there is a decent chance of being able to track down the guy yourself. also depending how you found this guy might help track him down.

Address. Don't know enough about the process to tell you. If I were you I would at least send a message saying that you are going to file a police report and sue, if you aren't refunded in 24 hours. Chances are good, that the threat alone will get him to pay up.

I have done it. Sent both an email & SMS saying I'm going to the police. No response :(
