2 accounts can be merged if they belong to the same person.


It IS possible to transfer miles from one account to another but its $$.

Very OT..... I was looking for a good place to post this yesterday.... Well here goes

I have an account with 16,000 miles expiring in a few weeks. How can I easily earn/redeem a few miles?

According to Gary it can trigger an audit so if you are planning on selling or sold in the past miles don't do it

AAdvantage now allows merging accounts online if all details are identical.

Also, AAdvantage allows a (one time) first or middle name change online.

So you can effectively create a (after the fact) household account, changing the first name on all family member accounts (after a long family trip for example) and then merging them.

Is there any risk?

AFAIK they match DOB not just first name and that cannot be changed.

Many accounts don't have the DOB on file, though now it appears as a requirement.
