You said "...mets spending almost same amount of $ as Yankees, have nothing to show." I am not a Mets fan and don't really care about the Yankees-Mets 'scoreboard' you seem to be keeping over there. But don't pretend that anyone else in the league spends nearly what the Yankees spend on a consistent basis. You linked to the exact site I got my numbers from, and if you go there and do the math you'll see that my response to you (" The Yanks have spent an average of $100m+ more than the Mets over the last 10 seasons.") is 100% true. Don't tell me about what number team they each were in spending, if the difference between 1 and 2 is $50m, that's still a massive gap.
yes but to miss the playoffs or finish in last place twice with the 2nd highest payroll??
mets spent millions and didnt even contend!
look at what redsox spent in the early '00's... pretty darn close to the yankess.. got 2 rings... mets 0. THEY DIDNT EVEN CONTEND!!!!!

I'm not defending the Mets, I have no horse in this race. I'm just correcting your wildly untrue statement.

And while we're on the topic, the current Yankee dynasty had the most success before they started spending crazy money. That's not to say they weren't the highest payroll or close to it, but it was within normal amounts of what other big market teams were spending. They didn't crack $100m till 2001, and coincidentally they've won 'only' once (which of course is plenty good, but not to the level of the 5 years before that). To be fair, they had to start paying the great players who one them those 1990's WS's top dollar, but the handing out huge contracts to every star they could get their hands on seemed to set them back, instead of continuing the dynasty.

+1. The only prayer is if ARod is implicated in one of these passing steroids scandals and the yankees are somehow able to get out of his contract.

The steroid stuff was from before this contract, no?
I doubt there's gonna be an out for that situation.

It might not be for using steroids, but injuries related to it. See below( was in an ESPN article). Or even personal conduct clauses.

"The paragraph does not preclude a club from taking further action against a player who is unable to play because of injury or disability "resulting directly from a physical injury or mental condition arising from his violation of the Program" and allows a club to withhold a player's salary if he is unable to play due to legal proceedings or incarceration due to a drug violation."

As I said earlier, its a prayer.

Very shaky.
Don't see how you'll prove in court that the current injury is directly related to steroid use years ago.

Hate to say it but IMHO they should trade him. His body just can't take the beating.

It means he is injury prone. Trade him now while he has great value. Let him get hurt somewhere else next year.  :)

yes i am :'(. So sad. When Gerald Wallace says he doesn't know his role, its over. :(. That 5 sec call at the end of the game. And the missed FT's and the bad shooting. Its gonna do it.
