Not really. Don't forget that this isn't a mere "cable", it is an "external graphics card" (a low-powered one of course), so it is a whole system going on inside.
Gotchya .. Still worth to give it a shot for $12 , no?

It is a matter of personality. Some people - like me - usually wouldn't by something "to give a shot" if there are normal options, but some people do.

And I'm assuming that it would be a reason not to use 1 HDMI and 1 VGA?

Why so?
The graphics won't be the same on both screens

I'm not sure why you would say so. The graphics/video comes out from two separate graphics cards, and this should not make any difference as to what kind of video transfer process you should be using (though HDMI is always rather than VGA.)

That's what I was told by a staples rep. So whats the advantage of HDMI over VGA?

In general, VGA is an analog signal and is much more prone to quality of signal problems and some distortion (a somewhat common occurrence when VGA has problems is to have a miscolored screen), vs HDMI which are digital signals that or work or don't.

Wait, what? staples told you hdmi and vga are the same?
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Sounds like he was told they're different and he'll get different resolutions or something like that on each one.

Correct.

They basically told me that the resolution would be inferior through VGA

Does this exist in the reverse?

https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-Gigabit-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B0095EFXMC/

Basically, I have an old server that I'd like to plug in a USB3.0 external drive into (for periodic data transfer), and I don't want to have to take it down and physically install a PCI USB3.0 card, but I want faster USB3.0 transfer speeds. Tried to Google but keep finding items like the above.

ETA: Added NAS to the search string and I'm getting closer.

ETA2: Found this, looking for something more reliable and/or cheaper.

This is for using one monitor/projector with three sources and switch easily which source is displayed on the single output.

Is there a way to make that when the computer goes to sleep it should not shut down chrome and all programs?
I shouldn't have to lose all my work when restarting my PC

When the computer goes to sleep it does not close anything, and after wake up everything shall resume exactly like before. But restarting isn't sleep. So you need to clarify which kind of sleep you are talking about.

You'll want to look at the power options and see when it's set to restart/sleep. In Windows 8/10 you can get there by pressing start and typing "when the computer sleeps".
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.
