The laptop or the charger cable power block? And yes.
Hmmm, I will have to check on Monday, but I think it's the laptop.

I have posted at least once in this thread about my laptop not shutting down properly. It would require that I hold down the power button to completely shutdown and restart. Also I wasn't able to wake laptop from sleep with completely shutting down.

I was browsing around and came across the suggestion to turn off "Fast Start Up". So far it seems to be working. Yay:)
(Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\System Setting)

I though this would finally solve the problem but only lasted a few days. Any ideas? This is so frustrating.
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Same here, but the laptop was 3 years old and so I recently invested in an expensive solution - the "replacement method" :)

At some point I will probably reinstall windows before passing the old one on to someone else, I'm hoping that that'll fix it.

I did a fresh Windows install a couple months ago and it didn't help.

Oh well! That's not such good news, what's left to try then?

https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/help-my-pc-with-windows-10-wont-shut-down-properly/
If the slow-shut down issue is not resolved, try steps 2 thru 6:

2. Right Click: Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the task bar
3. Select: Control Panel
4. Select: Trouble Shooting
5. Under System and Security Select: Fix Problems with Windows Update
6. Select: Trouble Shoot as an Administrator

If there were issues they should be fixed and you’ll see a green circle with a check mark indicating so. Close the window, restart your PC and monitor for shut down speed by initiating shut down again.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

How did the hosts file get changed? That's not so simple...
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I live in Israel and need a US IP address. It needs to be local to a particular city so I'll need to be setting up something there.  I see two options. A) A computer that I TeamViewer in to. B) Set up a router to be a VPN server.  B seems much neater.  What are the pros/cons?  Are there other solutions I'm missing?

Are there any free reliable ways to get a VPN? Thanks.

(I posted elsewhere, but IDK if anyone looks at that thread.)

Is there a Trash folder that doesn't auto-delete after 30 days?

I need to transfer my Microsoft Office from my old laptop to my new one but it's not associated with my Microsoft account and I can't find the product key, is there any way to find it on the computer that Office is installed on? I bought it through that website posted here a while ago that had it for $30 but I can't find the email they sent with the product key.
