I'm having a weird issue with Outlook 2016 on a Mac that I'm helping someone set up.

We set up gmail (google apps actually) to with Outlook and IMAP. Every so often, an email doesn't appear in the Inbox in Outlook. You can see the email in the inbox in the gmail web interface, and the email also shows up in the inbox on an iPhone that's connected to that account. The only way to find the email in Outlook is to look in All Mail.

These emails that are missing are sometimes important - so it's kind of an issue.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

TIA!

Maybe some rule is set in Outlook? Is Gmail using tabbed Inbox (with Social, Updates, etc.)?

I've had some crazy experiences with gmail and imap in outlook. Anytime the guy wanted to "check" for mail he had to delete an email from outlook and then instantly all the new ones would come flooding in.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

You can use a cheap Raspberry Pi.

Raspberry Pi = >$30
VirtualBox + Ubuntu = Free

My friend just bought this USB to VGA adapter, and it's not working properly - the monitor is blurry and hard to see

Is it a good? Should we try something more expensive?

USB 3.0 to VGA Adapter - Support Max Resolution 1080p, for PC Laptop Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ XP Built-in Driver. No need to install CD. (Black) (Black) ($13.42)

I was bored last night, so made my own VPN using these instructions:
https://techcrunch.com/2017/04/09/how-i-made-my-own-vpn-server-in-15-minutes/
https://github.com/trailofbits/algo

It works, is mostly free (only cost is the cloud provider), but a note of caution - to initially set it up you need Linux or Mac. I only have Windows so I used VirtualBox to install Linux Ubuntu and did it from there. Honestly most of the hassle was getting Linux set up.
Also note that I got an error that was fixed with this patch:
https://github.com/trailofbits/algo/issues/744#issuecomment-348698413

If you're up to the DIY approach  :D
Thanks, but I think this is too much for me.

Most likely something to do with the driver (altoiugh they claim that no driver is needed...).

He definitely has better chances with something like this than with that off-brand poorly-rated one, but it also costs a nice amount more.

Tried downloading a driver from the website but it said they were up to date. I would have recommended the startech one if I was asked, I have it and it works great. I'll see if we can return the cheap one.

Thanks for the advice!

Says up to date doesn't mean anything, you can try to uninstall current and install that one you think is correct.

I accidentally dragged something in windows, and moved a file or folder to a new place.

I don't know what it was.

How do I find out what happened?

Right after you do it, control-z might bring it back. Otherwise you can look in all the folders that you might have put it into and see if you can find it and put it back.

click start and type powershell to open powershell.

Narrow down to the lowest directory possible (if you know you dragged it to something in program files for example) and navigate there.  (Type cd 'program files') if you don't know, navigate to root (type cd).

Copy one of the commands I posted above and delete the C:\folder and press enter.
