Windows update keeps restarting my computer - biggest PIA.

Tried disabling it via services, via task scheduler, via settings.

Need help, thanks.

Came to my computer today and saw the following message from Avira antivirus:

"For your security access to the hosts file has been blocked".

Anyone know what this means and whether I need to do something about it?

Thanks

It said which program tried to modify it? I'd do a full system scan, but nothing to really worry.

Where's a safe place to download a Windows XP ISO?
I have a very old and slow computer that doesn't have a CD drive. I want to reinstall Windows XP on it to try to get it usable again.
And if there is someplace to get the ISO, will I also have to find all the driver's necessary for my computer separately?

Is it better to install some version of Linux instead?

My Tapatalk notifications don't always work.

Does the computer have a “restore to factory settings” option? Might be possibly to do that without getting an ISO.
You might need to get a couple of drivers manually, and the rest would all come back during windows update.

Depending on what you plan on using the computer for, Linux might be the way to go as it’s a much lighter OS.

I would say it is certainly better to go with Linux (maybe some Windows look-alike, like Zorin OS.)

Just regular browsing, maybe printing some stuff. Nothing that I specifically need windows for.

The lite version or regular? And is it hard to set up a printer on Linux?

I don't think windows update will help you find the drivers in windows XP
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I'd go with regular.

Printer depends on which models.

@Yisroel Tech you know anything about this ?
What’s the issue if a canon pixma printer is printing/copying at times a few lines fine then blank then fine or it’s so light almost invisible ? I put new ink but it’s still so faded.

I don't know. But did you already do all the maintenance options available on the device's menu?

I need to type Hebrew from time to time, but don't want to put stickers on my keyboard, I recall seeing a screen of Hebrew keyboard that shows up on the computer screen so I can see which letters are for what, anyone know what I'm referring to and how I can get it ?

install Hebrew on your computer through the language settings in Control Panel and use on screen keyboard. You toggle between languages using Alt+Shift

In Windows 7 and newer, slick start and type "on screen keyboard" (or just "osk")
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.
